At Connect2 we are blessed to have a very strong relationship with the local primary school.
ST. ANNE’S C.E. (VC) PRIMARY SCHOOL
Together with God, Making Learning a Life Long Friend
Start children off on the way they should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
At St Anne’s, we aspire to be guided in all that we do by our inclusive Christian ethos. We are enthusiastic about life-long learning and share wisdom in serving each other and our world. We encourage all to live lives of hope and aspiration, inspired through acquiring new skills and attributes. Dignity and respect are at the heart of our school.
Our motto and values are built on the pillars of our inclusive Christian ethos and underlying principles of St. Anne’s Primary School. To find out more about St Anne’s school visit their website.
Leaver’s Service for the year 6 at St Anne’s
It was great fun spending an afternoon with the year 6 class as they prepare to leave and go onto secondary school. We played some silly games, thought about what they would miss most from St Anne’s, what they are most proud of from their time in primary school, their best memory of a school trip and also took some time to look at the SU resource, ‘It’s Your Move.’

Christingle in School 2025

It was great to have the opportunity to join with the staff and pupils at St Anne’s school to celebrate Christingle. The pupils had expertly created their own Christingles and it was an amazing sight to light the candles at the end of the worship and to take the time to think about how we can be lights through this new year ahead.
Christingle is a joyful celebration that brings communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:
- The orange represents the world
- The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises God’s love for the world and everything in it which is seen in blood of Christ
- The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations gifted to us to look after
- The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness; remembering also that Jesus said that we too could be lights in the darkness.
Christmas 2025

This Christmas saw Connect2 working with St Anne’s primary school to create Christmas hampers and providing children’s Christmas presents for some local families. Christmas is one of the most important times for us at Connect2 as it is the time when we remember God’s amazing gift of love to the world. In working with St Anne’s to create the Christmas hampers we hoped to share some of God’s love and blessings to local families. It is also our prayer for all at St Anne’s and Brown Edge in general that, after such a tough year, all may truly know a Christmas full of God’s comfort and joy.
Naomi’s arrival and The Second Sunday

Autumn Term 2024 saw the appointment of Naomi who will be working with St Anne’s Primary School and Connect2 to further embed links with the children and families from the local area and Naomi will also be supporting the vision and values of the school as a Church of England School. Naomi’s post is funded by FLOURISH network.
As part of this there is a new venture starting in February 2025 – The Second Sunday.
You are warmly invited to join us at St. Annes Primary School every second Sunday of the month at 10am. If you are new to, or returning to church, want to explore faith or simply find community, you are so welcome. Our worship is for absolutely everyone and we always begin with breakfast and of course coffee! So whether you are 9 or 90 why not come along and find out more for yourself?
Christmas Prayer Stations – December 2025
As part of the school’s RE Day Connect2, Flourish, and Rev Karen Petherick hosted a series of Prayer Stations in St Anne’s Church where the children could explore the Christmas narrative in more detail. The children were really engaged and it was great fun spending the day with the school.
